Industrial Systems Institute (Greece)

The Industrial Systems Institute (I.S.I) is a public research institute, functioning under the supervision of the General Secretariat of Research and Technology (G.S.R.T) of the Greek Ministry of Development. I.S.I was founded in Patras, Western Greece on June 1998. On May 2003 it was included in the Research and Innovation Center in Information, Communication, and Knowledge Technologies ―Athena‖ (www.isi.gr). Its scope includes the active participation and substantial contribution to high-technology sectors, which relate to integrated industrial systems, with the objective of increasing the competitiveness of the Greek industry, through application of state-of-the-art technologies. It collaborates closely with the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department and the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University of Patras. Furthermore, I.S.I. has established strong collaborations with the industrial sector in Greece and has been involved in projects funded by the European Commission and the Greek Secretariat of Research and Technology through large-scale projects as well as by the Greek industry itself through bilateral agreements.
